Counselling

The period following a death, particularly that of a loved one, can be extremely difficult emotionally. Sometimes, people feel unable to talk to a close friend or family member for fear of burdening them when they are also grieving.

· At some point on your journey through bereavement, you may decide that you would benefit from some form of counselling, although this very much depends on the individual whether, and when, this could be useful.

· Your GP will be able to refer you to a range of counselling services in your local area.

· Alternatively, you may decide that you would prefer to organise some counselling, either for yourself or a family member, yourself (for example, if you feel that you need to start counselling sooner than NHS services can offer).
